goldsmith work from the Renaissance to the present day. In this 5-day
intensive, explore the beginning skills of the classically trained
engraver. Learn how to use and sharpen the basic graver, which serves
as the essential tool in this specialized art form. We will also explore the
milligrain tool and other decorative patterns. Students will work to
gain the essential first steps in using these tools to create a few of their
own pieces with endless possibilities in richness and depth. This is a great
way to learn hand engraving skills that are also an essential foundation
in learning advanced stone setting work and flourishing techniques. While
previous metalworking experience is helpful, all levels are welcomed and
no metalworking experience is required.
